Cyanotype Printing

  • St Martins Church Priory Fields Stroud, England, GL6 0PT United Kingdom (map)

Did you know that botanist and photographer Anna Atkins used cyanotypes in 1843 to document British algae and ferns, making her work the first-ever photographically illustrated book?

Join local artist Ruth Liengaard in creating your own brilliant white on deep-blue print using pressed plants as stencils.  See the magic of the cyanotype process when the outline on the plant appears on your card following exposure to sun-light or UV.

Ruth’s art is fostered by a love and sense of wonder towards the natural world, and furthered by a passion to bring out the creative potential in herself and others in a creative way.

Timing of sessions to be booked, maximum 4 participants (including children) per session. This activity is not suitable for pre-school children, and all primary-school children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.  For older school-age children a responsible adult must be within easy reach.
