Horsley’s Winter Wildlife #1

  • Meet: Outside Horsley Village Hall Priory Fields Stroud, England, GL6 0PT United Kingdom (map)

This workshop is now fully booked, however it’s happening again on Saturday, 24 February 2024 14:00 16:00 .

Who did this poo? Who made that track? What’s that smell/ And what’s that on the camera trap?  Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, Chair, David Bullock does not claim to be able to tell every species by its faeces, but he will have a go, using smell, shape, and situation. Only dormice, hedgehogs and bats hibernate in the UK and, if it’s mild, the last two will be out foraging along with the rest of the wildlife.

This workshop involves a 1 km circular walk looking for what’s been where in the fields and woods before returning to the Village Hall to see what has been spotted on David’s camera traps over the previous week.

If you have a camera trap / trail camera, check batteries and SD card, set it along an animal path in your garden, scatter a few peanuts around for the week preceding the workshop. Bring camera and SD card to workshop to look at who is passing through your garden while you sleep. Disabled access tricky on the walk. Winter walking clothes required.
